A bit behind last year thanks to injuries/setbacks and the parade of colds and flus that have circulated nonstop since Dec 6.Felt better today however, despite a recent neck muscle spasm/slightly pinched nerve, much better in fact, so took on:
1) Getting Gordo's skateboard (Creature/Destructo/Kryptonite 62mm) set up
2) The Mistral XR epoxy repair — minor cosmetic stuff involving a trip to West Marine and a brief lesson for Gordo in board repair.
3) Mix up a batch of chain lube
4) Repair stand work - lube 4 bikes
With the empty lube dispenser — an old Prolink Gold (PLG) bottle — finally located, I mixed up 3:1 OMS and Chainsaw Bar, Chain and Sprocket oil, plus a little secret ingredient. It mixes extremely well and goes on just like PLG, but it will be interesting to see how it works in the real world. I do not anticipate buying special bike lube again.
One of the chains was kinked with a rusty link, and the mix sorted the problem right away.
At left the Bike Lube Lab -- the chain technology is well covered with the chainsaw bar and sprocket oil. Master Mechanic's is a nice and gold color like Prolink Gold (the empty bottle) saved for dispensing.
The OMS delivers the oil very well to the chain. Do very much like the Stihl chainsaw bar oil in this context.
[Also added a little Stihl 2-stroke oil for some of its high-tech benefits. Dark looking stuff, though, — would skip the next time]
