Rabbit Delay ... Yes that's right ...

Not a rain delay but yes, a rabbit delay ...

Had to wait for the big ol' rabbit to clear before going on my run today. Love this fellow, see him around a lot, he's a very adventurous rabbit and clever enough to stay out of trouble, although he does like to cross roads now and then.

This never happens ... but it did

This will not be a dog day of winter;
I, Princess Z III, decree it!
65 degrees Fahrenheit (18ÂșC) at LaGuardia Airport today, Saturday, Feb. 19. Such fine weather is and astonishingly rare occurrence, as we are normally mired in the dog days of winter at this point in the calendar.
Ahhhh.
But lo, we have not one, but five 60 degree days forecast this week. Even more rare is that a warm winter day is not a rain-out affair. As you can see, it was fairly clear with just the right amount of cloudiness to add some moody gravitas.
You are now re-entering Spooky Castle country.

For cyclists, it was one to check the tires, and hit the road. For runners it was shorts and long sleeves and long runs, hellos, and howdy!s were exchanged a plenty. And some cyclists even waved back. Enough said. Ride on, run on.

The legendary beach with the view of Manhattan
in the distance.

Keep your eyes on the road ahead, or the ruts and grooves
might getcha! This is a fast descent, too.

Bike's eye-view doesn't quite do it justice—the
invitation of the open road.

Accidental bike pron. Handlebar wrap turned out
much better this time. Wrapping that mirror in is a P.I.T.A.

Nothing like a cool Montauk Session. A bit too
warm for a fire in the fireplace today, though.

Out into the Snow Globe

As tempting as it is to think we can ride, run, swim, and surf through just about anything ...  an injury or bug sometimes sneaks through the defenses.

I had hoped to get through the winter and spring without catching a cold, but this week it was not to be. Saturday and Sunday's runs and rides were sweet in their respective ways, but come the end of Sunday night's walk, the tell-tale sniffles morphed into a full blown cold in what seemed like a matter of hours.
Just the right amount of snow, if that's possible.

Unfazed by cold water, able to run, swim and
chase bikes with no time wasted toweling off ...

Oh well, speed bump. Not going to stress over goals and missed runs, rides, just have to do something else for a week or so.
Rewards of the gloomy day ride - sometimes sublime.
As luck would have it, a light snow storm — known to the weather men as a "clipper" was forecast for Tuesday, bringing with it perfect snow globe conditions. And when you know you won't have to shovel much, if at all, or have to dig out your car or worry about getting stuck on the road, it lowers the anxiety level almost immediately.

Now, we've been walloped with some pretty huge snow events in recent years, so these light dustings are welcome. They cover the outdoors world — except for the bustling main roads — with a blanket of calm and silence, they look pretty ... and going out for a walk in them never gets old.
