Out into the Snow Globe

As tempting as it is to think we can ride, run, swim, and surf through just about anything ...  an injury or bug sometimes sneaks through the defenses.

I had hoped to get through the winter and spring without catching a cold, but this week it was not to be. Saturday and Sunday's runs and rides were sweet in their respective ways, but come the end of Sunday night's walk, the tell-tale sniffles morphed into a full blown cold in what seemed like a matter of hours.
Just the right amount of snow, if that's possible.

Unfazed by cold water, able to run, swim and
chase bikes with no time wasted toweling off ...

Oh well, speed bump. Not going to stress over goals and missed runs, rides, just have to do something else for a week or so.
Rewards of the gloomy day ride - sometimes sublime.
As luck would have it, a light snow storm — known to the weather men as a "clipper" was forecast for Tuesday, bringing with it perfect snow globe conditions. And when you know you won't have to shovel much, if at all, or have to dig out your car or worry about getting stuck on the road, it lowers the anxiety level almost immediately.

Now, we've been walloped with some pretty huge snow events in recent years, so these light dustings are welcome. They cover the outdoors world — except for the bustling main roads — with a blanket of calm and silence, they look pretty ... and going out for a walk in them never gets old.
