Arrived to dead flat water at Bayville today, low tide, for Zou Zou's first real big water adventure. Retrieve and SUP
With 84 sunny degrees of heat and mugginess, this pup was ready for her first dip in the chillier waters of Long Eye Land Sound.
What you see here is a rare camera friendly pose from a dog that generally never stops moving.
PART 1 retrieving. Before the SUP came out, we did the fetch a floaty rubber stick routine — easily 99 out of 100 successful retrieves -- and 1 unsuccessful --- the last one. But she got to do plenty of cool water walking and a fair bit of swimming on a hot day. Here she is after a cool drink of water—that had to taste good.
The SUP was a much harder proposition to persuade her to climb aboard. She did eventually with a little help, but was imbalanced and hopped off into the water and did not
No cycling this weekend for various reasons.
The photo below is from last week's ride. A new house has finally risen near the junction of Hoffstot and Seacoast, or there abouts.
If you are riding Sands Point, the Hoffstot section is much neglected bit of fun, and very worthwhile, providing several vistas on the Sound, including this one looking east to ...well way way out there.
To avoid messing up your Strava segments, do the Hoffstot portion after you've rounded the Point and done the lighthouse sprint.
You can even exit Hoffstot on the return leg via Sloane's Beach Rd for extra climbing torture.
