In a word, Sultry

In a word, Sultry.

Even on a steamy day, Lighthouse Point Sands Point has
beguiling vistas.
Memorial Day arrived with the promise of cancelled parades and all-day downpour from Tropical ex-Storm, downgraded to tropical rainstorm Bonnie. So the supposedly smart money was on getting barbecues in the Northeast scheduled on Saturday and Sunday. This day was supposed to be a washout.
Memorial Day Parade not canceled. Atlantic Hook and Ladder
moving right on by.

But that's why they pay the weather folk the small bucks. And there are no complaints about them being wrong about New York weather today, because there was no downpour, no monsoon, no day-long deluge.
Bike's eye view.
We got to the parade OK; those who showed up to march were fine, and nobody got soaked. OK, In sweat maybe, but not in rain.

Through the beachside jungle.

The humidity, however, that you could divide into great sloppy servings.  The mugginess percentage was around 83%, but at least the temperature was down to 77 from 88 the last few days -- a lucky break.

I hadn't even counted on getting a ride in, but despite a few dark and threatening clouds, the chance was there to enjoy a little roll time outdoors.

The legs were dead-ish and the neck was extra stiff and troublesome, sinuses were barking and a headache was forming, but nothing bad enough to put a stop to the newly hatched plans, not even in combination, so I figured a straight out and back 7 mile ride to Sands Point.
One of many riders descending to sea level at the point.

Had enough left over to detour down Shepherd, Half Moon, and Sandy Hollow. Plenty of other cyclists to share the roads with. Not too many cars, and a steamy vista across the Sound at Lighthouse Point.

It's a good swooping, downhill turn.
Road is a bit rough, but it keeps you on your toes.
